Sohe and 97 Social Christmas Experience

I've known my 3 bestie's Carly, Clare and Marie since I was 11, we have all moved around the country... actually the world and Marie is now in the RAF so it's often hard for us to meet up. We therefor always take any opportunity we can to get-together. The date was set and we had literally just said "lets do something different for a change" instead of cheap pizza and cheaper wine, when an email pinged onto my screen.

It was an invite to the Cocktail and Christmas Event at 97 Social and Sohe in Jesmond which promised

"Mixology masterclass magic, naughty nibbles and fashion festivities with i
ntu Metrocentre stylist Michaela Dale"

You dont have to ask us twice!

Non of us had been to these sister bars, which is always nice but as soon as we walked in we were made to feel at home as well. We were immediately welcomed with a 'Sloe Spritzer'- Gin, Elderflower cordial, Sparkling sake and limoncello foam....delicious, truly. We were then able to have a little tour of the Restaurant and sample some yummy tasters. Sohe describes its self as Asian Fusion and it is exactly that from the decor, to the unbelievable cocktails to the food. Nothing is too overpowering though just very cool, especially the private dining room.

We were presented with some platters of in a way Asian Tapas. I absolutely love food but if there is one thing I crave all the time its Sushi because its so hard to get the good stuff near me or without having to go into the City; so this is well on my map next time I need a fix. In fact I cant wait to return for a proper meal everything was so yum.

It was then on to the cocktail making with the very helpful Steve and we got the chance to make 'Geisha in the City' and a another cocktail that I cant for the life of me remember...we had sampled a lot by now but it tasted exactly like palm violet sweets, so if you pop in just ask for a Palm Violet I'm sure they will know. It was loads of fun making the Cocktails but it was a bit like the blind leading the blind for us. I had no idea how much effort went into them, It was more like a Chemists with all the different ingredients and home made sorbets.

It was then time to nip next door to 97 Social and it was a bit like stepping out of Chinatown into the Mad Hatters Tea party in the best possible way. We were immediately treated to a Tispy Tea, which apart from delicious is such good value. For four people and 2 double pots of Cocktails it is only £29.95...which trust me I know my afternoon tea and at just under £7.50pp with alcohol that's a steal.

While we were munching on the yummy cakes, the lovely Michaela from intu Metrocentre gave us a little fashion show or walk through of the things that are hot on trend this Christmas; from various designers like Coast and Ted Baker. Its Black, gold and of course sparkle if you're interested and it was weird because Michaela had brought the exact dress my friend Marie had treat herself to that same day, so she's on point.

It was then back to Sohe for one last Christmas Cocktail called 'Fortune Cookie' with Milk, brandy, amaretto and spices like nutmeg I could honestly have had it as desert; ice cold, creamy and with a cookie on the side. This is what I loved about this place though it was Christmas but different and arnt we all sick of turkey
and mince pies already...well maybe not the last one but you get the drift.

After all this indulgence it was time to go before we exploded but one thing is for sure, we will return. Not bad for an average Tuesday girls night....

I would highly recommend these venues for a date night, Christmas night out or a girls night. For more information on both these venues see the links below as well

As well assigning up to the loyalty card "Sweet Rewards" where you can earn credit for eating and drinking in the above venues and 4 other of their sister venues.

  1. Sohe and the 97 social group enjoyed a special Christmas together thanks to the amazing 0D3014 - Dell 930-Watts Power Supply for PowerEdge 2800 2850. The crowd was exciting, just like this power supply unit's dependable performance, guaranteeing a joyous occasion to remember.
